What We Believe

At The Interfaith Christian Church, we are a Christian Church rooted in Holy Scripture, centered on Jesus Christ, and committed to truth, holiness, charity, and faithful witness.

God

We believe in one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of all things and is worthy of all worship.

How we live this:

We worship with reverence.

We trust God in all things.

We seek to obey His will.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins, rose again, and will come again in glory.

How we live this:

We confess Jesus Christ openly.

We follow His teaching.

We place our hope in Him.

Scripture: John 1:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:11

Holy Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the governing Scripture of this Church.

How we live this:

We read Scripture regularly.

We preach and teach from the Bible.

We measure doctrine and practice by God’s Word.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; Psalm 119:105

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, called to worship God, preach the Gospel, make disciples, and serve the world in Christ’s Name.

How we live this:

We gather for worship and prayer.

We share the Gospel.

We serve others with mercy and love.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42

Sacramental Life

We believe in the sacramental life of the Church, including Holy Baptism, Holy Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Holy Confession, Anointing of the Sick, Marriage Blessing, and Holy Orders.

How we live this:

We receive the sacraments with reverence.

We seek God’s grace through the Church’s life.

We honor holy rites in worship and daily discipleship.

Scripture: Luke 22:19; John 20:23; James 5:14

Baptism, Confirmation, and Ministry

We believe that all who are baptized are deacons in this Church, called to Christian service.
We believe that those who are baptized and confirmed are priests in this Church.
We believe that bishops are ordained from among the baptized and confirmed priests of the Church.

How we live this:

The baptized are called to serve.

The baptized and confirmed are called to prayer, holiness, and spiritual responsibility.

Bishops are called to lead, teach, and guard the faith.

Scripture: Matthew 20:26; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 1 Timothy 4:14; Titus 1:5

Baptism and Holy Communion

We believe Holy Baptism is the sacrament of new birth and entrance into the Church.
We believe Holy Confirmation strengthens the faithful in grace and ministry.
We believe Holy Eucharist is the sacrament of thanksgiving and communion. In this Church, bread and water are the normative elements of Holy Communion.

How we live this:

We encourage Baptism and Confirmation.

We come to Holy Communion with reverence.

We honor the Church’s discipline in worship.

Scripture: John 3:5; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:14–17; 1 Corinthians 10:16; Luke 22:19

Christian Life

We believe Christians are called to live in prayer, holiness, repentance, truth, mercy, and love of neighbor.

How we live this:

We pray daily.

We repent and seek holiness.

We practice mercy, honesty, and forgiveness.

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:16; Matthew 22:37–39; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Micah 6:8

Order, Witness, and Interfaith Life

We believe in Christian order and faithful witness. Final doctrinal authority in this Church rests in the Presiding Bishop. We also seek peace and understanding with others without compromising the truth of the Gospel.

How we live this:

We honor the order of the Church.

We speak the truth with humility and charity.

We pursue peace without denying Christ.

Scripture: Hebrews 13:17; Titus 1:9; 1 Peter 3:15; Romans 12:18

In Summary
We are a Christian Church that confesses one God in Trinity, proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, receives the Bible as the Word of God, lives a sacramental and holy life, and seeks to serve the world with truth and love.
